DOMUS MATER is hosted by the Priests of the Sacred Heart.

This extraordinary place dates to 1928, when the first Priests of the Sacred Heart member, Father Kazimierz Wiecheć, arrived in Płaszów.
The monastery was built in 1930–1931.
Its first residents were order members and young novices studying religious life.
In autumn 1939, displaced people found shelter here.
In 1940, Wehrmacht troops and the Blue Police occupied the building.
After the war, it briefly resumed relatively normal functioning. In 1952, communists seized it, first creating a hospital for mentally ill women, then a psychiatric children's hospital.
The rightful owners regained it in 1993. Catastrophically damaged, it needed complete renovation; modernisation took place from 2009 to 2012.
In January 2013, the Priests of the Sacred Heart religious community moved back in.
On 28 February 2013, DOMUS MATER, an intimate hotel, opened in a separate monastery section. Its Latin name literally means Mother House (the order's motherhouse).
Notable residents include Cardinal Stanisław Nagy, a Priests of the Sacred Heart member, KUL professor and friend of Father Karol Wojtyła—St John Paul II—who, during his “Kraków years”, frequently visited the House on Saska Street. Earlier church leaders included Prince Cardinal Stefan Sapieha and several later bishops of Kraków.
