Pilgrim House

It is our great pleasure to present a modern, functionally furnished and equipped pilgrim house. Both the building's history and its connection with the Church make Domus Mater truly deserving of its name.

What makes pilgrims gladly choose our facility? At least several factors encourage them. Secluded yet still close to the center with direct access, Domus Mater offers a peaceful refuge in a big city. Located directly next to the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which is also the sanctuary of Our Lady of Płaszów, it gives the sense of being near the Lord. The entire building once served as a monastery for the Priests of the Sacred Heart (part of it still serves this purpose), and guest rooms were created from monastery cells. Each room contains a Holy Bible and a crucifix on the wall. There is also a chapel open 24/7. Individual talks with a priest and confession are available. Domus Mater also houses a museum room dedicated to the memory of Fr. Stanisław Cardinal Nagy, SCJ, a long-time friend of St. John Paul II.

Domus Mater welcomes individual pilgrims and organized groups. Its convenient location makes it an excellent base for those wishing to visit sites such as the Divine Mercy Sanctuary, the John Paul II Center “Do Not Be Afraid” in Kraków’s Łagiewniki, the Skałka church, and St. Catherine's church with the relics of St. Rita.

For pilgrims, we offer a monitored, secure parking lot for cars and coaches, a garden with terrace, and inside the building, a café, the "Under the Angels" restaurant, and a library.
